Who We Are.
The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus (“UWISTA”), through the Engineering Institute, and The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT), through the Energy Systems Engineering Unit have formalised the establishment of a Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage-Collaborate (CCUS-C) on May 1, 2024, via a memorandum of understanding (MOU). The CCUS-C is an integral part of Trinidad and Tobago’s climate change response, as we aim to reduce our country carbon emissions and meeting our global commitments. We are one of the five working groups that was established by a Cabinet Appointed Steering Committee in February 2021, to develop a Storage Atlas for Trinidad and Tobago and supported by the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries.
Our Vision
To establish an internationally recognized CCUS Centre of Excellence in Trinidad and Tobago (CCUS-CoETT) and to become a regional leader for the Latin America and Caribbean Region.
Our Mission
To promote and implement CCUS activities and build awareness of its vital importance to Trinidad and Tobago, the region and the wider world.
Our Objectives
To provide services in the areas of CCUS and renewable energy to Government, State Agencies, Energy Sector Companies and Academia – locally, regionally and internationally.
Our Stakeholders
Our local and international stakeholders participate in meetings, provide technical support and experiences, facilitate site visits, student exchange programs and local capacity building, funding support and guidance.
